Floyd County prosecutors have now charged William Clyde Gibson with a third murder.
Listen:
Gibson was charged Wednesday with killing Stephanie Kirk, whose body was found buried in his back yard last month. Prosecutor Keith Henderson says he will seek the death penalty in that case, as well as the murder and mutilation of Christine Whitis, because he feels it's appropriate, due to alleged criminal deviant conduct.
Henderson says he will not seek the death penalty in the murder of Karen Hodella ten years ago, due to the age of the case, elements of the evidence, and the practicality of three death penalty cases.
Gibson's first trial, in the Whitis murder, has been scheduled for August 27th.
