A Marion County Sheriff's Deputy has been fired over an incident last month at the Arrestee Processing Center.
Listen:
28-year-old David Carrico is being charged with felony and misdemeanor assault. He's accused of kicking, punching and slamming a handcuffed arrestee to the floor. Sheriff John Layton is also asking for an FBI investigation of possible civil rights violations.
The sheriff's department says security video shows the alleged victim, 43-year-old Harry Hooks, junior, called deputies "racists" but offered no resistance to the attack. Carrico claims Hooks pulled away from him in "a very aggressive and violent manner" as he put it.
