Governor Mitch Daniels is the apparent next President of Purdue University.
Purdue says its board of trustees will vote Thursday morning on a candidate to replace retiring President France Cordova. An announcement of the decision and news conference are planned after the vote.
A source confirms to 93 WIBC that the presidential candidate is Governor Mitch Daniels. The Governor's office would not comment.
The office of Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman tells RTV 6 that Daniels will serve out the remainder of his term as governor, which ends in early 2013. That would leave Purdue without a president for the last half of this year.
The president-elect is scheduled to hold a media availability and appear at a welcome reception Friday morning in downtown Indianapolis.
