A Terre Haute man was airlifted to Methodist Hospital Friday afternoon after his scooter collided with two vehicles in Vigo County.

Indiana State Police say 20-year-old Brodie Evans was traveling westbound through stopped vehicles on northbound U.S. 41 south of Springhill Drive. During that time, Evans drove into the path of a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Shannon Grzegorek of Newman, Illinois. Evans' scotter then hit a van driven by 46-year-old Stacey Smith of Sullivan, Indiana.

Evans, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the scooter and suffered serious head and internal injuries as well as multiple lacerations and abrasions. State Police say drug and alcohol testing for Evans is currently underway. Grzegorek and Smith both tested negative for intoxication and neither driver was injured.

No traffic citations have been issued and the investigation is ongoing.
