Indianapolis-based Wellpoint is buying Amerigroup.

Amerigroup manages programs such as Medicaid.

The deal gives Wellpoint the company for about $4.4-billion dollars cash or about $4.9-billion total.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2013, but still needs regulatory approval and the okay from Amerigroup stockholders.
