The three-year-old who died after being pulled from a retention pond Tuesday has been identified as Sanilynn Bowens.
Bowens was pulled from the pond at the Marina Apartments on 21st Street between Post and Mitthoeffer Roads after her aunt noticed she was missing. She was taken to Community East Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The Marion County Coroner tells RTV6 that an exact cause of death has not yet been determined. A determination could take over a month. A spokesman for the Marion County Prosecutor says an "extensive investigation" is underway and that it will take time before a decision is made on whether charges will be filed in the girl's death.
