7/23/2012

A Noblesville mother is behind bars after leaving her 11-month-old daughter inside a hot vehicle Monday afternoon.

Noblesville Police say officers were called to the 14000 block of Town Center Boulevard around 1:45 p.m. on a report a child left unattended in a vehicle. Officers found the girl inside the car with one of the windows slightly rolled down and immediately removed her from the car into an air-conditioned police car.

The girl was later transported to St. Vincent Northeast Hospital in Fishers. She was later released to her father pending further investigation by the Department of Child Services. Police say the temperature inside the car was approximately 110 degrees.

The child's mother, 31-year-old Poojah Harshit Thakkar, was arrested on a preliminary charge of child neglect. Thakkar told police she was shopping at the Hamilton Town Center when police were called. She is being held at the Hamilton County Jail.
