A suspect arrested for battery, resisting law enforcement and public intoxication Saturday night died in custody.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department says 35-year-old Kenneth Flannery was arrested in the 8100 block of Madison Avenue after an altercation with IMPD officers. Flannery was placed in a Marion County Sheriff's transportation wagon and upon arrival at the Arrestee Processing Center about 15 minutes later, Flannery was found unresponsive.

EMS personnel attempted to revive Flannery but were unsuccessful. The Marion County Coroner's Officer will conduct an autopsy to determine a cause of death. The investigation into Flannery's death is being conducted by IMPD, the Marion County Sheriff's Department and the Marion County Coroner.
