Standoff In Linton Ends Peacefully

Children Released Unharmed

8/10/2012

Indiana State Police say a standoff with an armed man in Linton Friday has ended peacefully.

The standoff began following an argument with the suspect and another man during which both men suffered injuries.  The suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Ian Long, barricaded himself inside his home with his three children, ages 10, 12 and 14.

One child was released from the home shortly after 6 a.m. and the other two were let out after 11:00.   Police say they made entry into the home just after 1 p.m. when Long had fallen asleep.

Long was arrested on a warrant for intimidation.  State Police say the investigation into Friday morning's events will be given to the Greene County Prosecutor's Office where more charges could be filed.
