The city of New Castle is abuzz, and it's all about the Little League World Series.
Listen:
The team from New Castle is in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to compete with the best Little League teams in the world. Mayor Greg York says the town is usually known for it's basketball since it is the home of the largest high school basketball gym in the world, but it's a baseball town now.
The team advanced to the World Series with a win against Warren County, Kentucky on Friday, and the town has been electric ever since. York says they plan on showing Friday night's game on a big screen set up on the backstop of the Little League diamond in town.
York says the team is not just playing for themselves, they lost longtime coach Danny Smekens to cancer, and team member Bryce Pinkard's family home burned down earlier this year. York says the team has rallied around the setbacks and is ready to compete with the best.
New Castle takes on Gresham National from Oregon at 8 p.m. Friday.
