Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is in the midst of what appears to be tough contract talks with its musicians.
ISO Spokesperson Jessica Di Santo confirms their three-year contract with Local 3 of the American Federation of Musicians expires September 2nd. However, she wouldn't confirm reports that the ISO is seeking to cut its number of musicians in addition to pay by almost half due to a multi-million budget gap.
Di Santo says it's too early to say how the symphony will do this year because their fiscal year doesn't end until August 31th. However, she cites past years of deficits. ISO has fallen short in its capital fund campaign to raise $100 million.
