Indiana gas prices are on the way up.
Listen:
Patrick DeHaan of Gasbuddy.com says the statewide average jumped 6 cents a gallon from midnight Monday to Tuesday afternoon. He says some stations have raised their price to $3.99 a gallon, but some are still around $3.60.
DeHaan says the increase is not entirely due to Hurricane Isaac, he says only about 35-percent is due to the storm. DeHaan says there is word in the industry that a local refinery has bought gas from another refinery, which he says is a red flag about possible local refining issues.
DeHaan says wholesale prices increased 32 cents on Monday, but went down 20 cents on Tuesday. He says if stations increase their price without having bought the new, more expensive gas, it's a clear-cut case of price gouging.
