Construction is still going on, but that didn't stop Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health from celebrating it's new Simon Family Tower.
The hospital held what it called a "Celebration of Children" for the new 10-story facility, which houses the hospital's new lobby as well as new rooms for treatment of patients. The $475 million facility was desperately needed, as the hospital has mostly operated at capacity for several years.
Governor Daniels was on hand for the celebration, as were "Riley Kids", patients who were treated at Riley in each decade of the hospital's existence, going back to when it opened in 1924.
Construction on the tower will not be fully complete until sometime next year.
