A former jail deputy at the Arrestee Processing Center in Indianapolis was arrested and fired Friday following an incident with an arrestee.
The Marion County Sheriff's Department says Nathaniel Latimer was processing the arrestee on July 28 when the arrestee began arguing with Latimer. Latimer allegedly forced the arrestee down, striking his head on a metal bench. The arrestee was given medical treatment after the incident.
Latimer was placed on administrative leave after the incident and has since been terminated by Marion County Sheriff John Layton. He was arrested Friday on a felony charge of official misconduct and a misdemeanor charge of battery. Latimer had been a member of the Marion County Sheriff's Department since January 2011.
