Arson Leads to Double Shooting

Police are investigating an early morning shooting and house fire that investigators are calling a case of arson.
Metro police were called out to the 3700 block of Forest Manor Avenue shortly after 6:30 Saturday morning after a report of a house fire coupled with shots fired.
Investigators say 43 year old Shanna Ford and her 23 year old son, Zachary Joseph, were in their home when they realized their porch was on fire. They ran outside, to escape the fire and a man with a black hoodie was on the lawn and shot both the mother and her son. They were both taken to Wishard Hospital in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses reported seeing a black male fleeing the scene in a dark colored sedan.
Detectives with the aggravated assault unit and the arson unit canvassed the neighborhood and processed the crime scene for evidence. Anyone with information regarding this incident can call IMPD or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477). Callers can also txt "INDYCS" plus tip information to 274627.
