The challenger to Indiana's school superintendent is trying to boost what's expected to be an uphill battle by challenging her opponent to a series of debates.
Listen to Glenda Ritz's debate challenge to Tony Bennett:
Democrat Glenda Ritz went directly from the classroom to the political arena when she decide to take on Republican superintendent Tony Bennett. With Ritz on the short end of the fundraising battle, she now says wants to debate Bennett across the state, delivering a letter to the headquarters of the Indiana Republican Party asking that Bennett debate her in each of the state's nine congressional districts.
Ritz says she wants the debates to be held at schools to give as many people access to them as possible. No debates are currently scheduled between Bennett and Ritz.
Ross McMullin, Bennett's campaign manager, says he received Ritz's letter Wednesday afternoon, and says they are "looking at the calendar to see what works."
