A Bloomington man is behind bars after a fatal hit-and-run crash Tuesday morning.

Bloomington Police say 27-year-old Steven Finch admitted to being distracted by an electronic device and was unable to avoid a motorcycle, driven by 37-year-old Johnny Shane Harden. Finch's car struck the motorcycle and knocked Harden off. Police say Finch initially stopped after the crash and backed up, allegedly backing over and dragging Harden's body. Once Harden's body was dislodged, Finch then made a U-turn and fled the scene.

Police say Finch then went to a car wash to try and wash away evidence of the crash. He then went to his parents' house before being taken to the Monroe County Jail where he turned himself in. He was then transported to the Bloomington Police Department for questioning.

Finch faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. He's being held in the Monroe County Jail. An autopsy on Harden is scheduled for Wednesday morning in Terre Haute.
