Lawrence Police are warning kids and parents to be on guard.
Listen:
Captain Erika Schneider says in the past two weeks there have been two incidents involving suspicious cars near Forest Glen Elementary School and an apartment complex.
Schneider says the first incident happened during the early evening of September 11th. She says a black male in a shiny light blue Crown Victoria tried to lure kids into his car near Churchill Ranch Apartments . Schneider says the man claimed to be looking for his dog. She says the kids took off and reported the incident to their parents. Schneider says parents reported another incident about a car parked near Forest Glen Elementary Monday. Schneider says parents reported the car was blasting music, they believe in an effort to attract kids. No kids were harmed in either incident.
Schneider says kids and parents should continue to be aware of their surroundings and continue to report suspicious activity. She says both cases remains open and they're still seeking community tips.
