A new CDC report has found kids eat as much salt as adults.
Listen:
Dr. Randall Caldwell is the Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at Riley Hospital for Children, who says processed and fast foods are to blame. He says eating at home more often does help, but if it's processed foods, it doesn't do much good. He says kids also need more fruits and vegetables in their diet to keep down hypertension.
Dr. Caldwell says the "silent killer" has no symptoms and leads to heart disease and stroke and he adds hypertension can begin in children. He says adults, and children, should always get their resting blood pressure checked during their annual physical exam to be aware of any hypertension.
