Instead of grieving, Jason Baker's dad decided to start a charity, named for his son who was killed in the line of duty.

Baker, a Marion County Deputy, who was shot to death during a traffic stop by two men, armed with assault rifles, but his dad Jerry wanted to keep his son's dedication to the job alive, in the form of a scholarship. In order to raise money for the scholarship, the 11th annual Beyond The Badge Run/Walk will be held on Sunday at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Jerry Baker, who is with the IU campus police, says the scholarship will go to a deserving high school student, who wants to get into law enforcement, and has a dedication to the community, physical fitness, and work ethic.

The 5K run starts at 9AM Sunday with registration available at 7:30, or on the Web at heroesforpublicsafety.org
