The two victims in Friday night's fatal crash on Interstate 70 in Putnam County have been identified.
Indiana State Police and the Putnam County Coroner's Office say 49-year-old Emma Bronson and her three-year-old daughter Zacchia Bronson were killed after their BMW was struck by a semi tractor-trailer that failed to slow down in a construction zone on eastbound I-70 near the 43 mile marker. The BMW burst into flames after being hit.
The driver of the BMW, 47-year-old Michael Bronson was able to free himself from the car. He is the husband and father of the victims. He was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital and has been released. The family is from Pascagoula, Mississippi.
The driver of the semi, Jordan Moore remains at Methodist with extensive injuries. William Bertelmann, who was driving a pickup truck which was also struck by the semi, remains under observation at Methodist.
State Police say the final results of the investigation will be turned over to the Putnam County Prosecutor's Office for review.
