A three year old girl was rushed to Community South Hospital and her mother, 20-year-old Farris Joan Ryan of Greenwood, has been arrested on preliminary charges of neglect of a dependent and possession of a controlled substance.

The young woman told police her daughter may have ingested the Klonopin--the commercial name for the drug Clonazepam. She said she found the child unsteady and unable to hold her head up. Investigators say she first claimed to have obtained the pills from a friend because she had back pain, but later admitted she had planned to sell the drug and that she had done so before.

The three-year-old has since been released from the hospital.
