IMPD Interim Chief Rick Hite continues his certification process to likely drop his interim tag.

Hite says the process includes looking over 34-year old records, reviewing his grades, which he says were good, and completing training in various areas.

Hite says he's learning how to shoot and drive all over again and even taking survival training. He says it's a yearlong process and he should be done next year.

Hite expects to be named Chief, but he's told city officials that they need to pick who they feel is right for the job.
