An accused serial killer is now fit to stand trial.
A judge in Floyd county heard testimony from a psychologist and a psychiatrist and ruled that William Clyde Gibson is competent to stand trial for the murder of Christine Whitis. During testimony Dr. Stephen Shelton described Gibson in his examination as cooperative and compliant.
During the hearing testimony was also given that revealed Gibson attempted suicide while in the Floyd County Jail. Tony Kirk who is the father of one of the victims said after the hearing that it was too bad he (Gibson) did not succeed.
Gibson's trial for the murder of Christine Whitis is scheduled to begin in February.
