Listen:
Knightstown native Micah Matlock made the latest cut now in the running for National FFA Officer. This while some 55,000 young people are in Indianapolis for the the 85th annual FFA Convention. The FFA is hosting a Rally to Fight Hunger this year. Their goal is to pack 1 million meals during the course of the convention. Upwards of 10,000 members are expected to take part in the rally project. Matlock says the process includes personal interviews, a written agriculture test, written essay, oral presentation, a leadership workshop and final presentation.
He says he has dreamed of becoming a national officer since high school. He says FFA helped him develop communication skills and break out of his shell and become a student at Purdue University. The winner gets to address the convention. He'll find out who gets elected Saturday.
