A third death reported in Indiana because of fungal meningitis tied to tainted steroids.
Listen:
The death was recently reported by Elkhart County, where the other two deaths were reported, however that number may change.
Previously the official count of fungal meningitis deaths was coming from the county that the tainted shot originated in, but now, that will change to the county the person lived in.
Elkhart County Health officer Dr. Dan Nafziger says the change might have been made because of the increasing number of fungal meningitis cases health officials were seeing.
Nafziger says in most cases, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Counts residence, instead of where a shot was administered, so he says the shift makes sense.
