Indianapolis Metropolitan Police homicide detectives are searching for a suspect in the June 25 shooting death of a 16-year-old boy.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 33-year-old Courtney Smith of Indianapolis.  Police believe Smith and 16-year-old Daesean Shanklin were involved in a disturbance which led to Shanklin being shot and killed.  Smith was also shot in the exchange but was not seriously wounded.

Smith is described as a black male, between 6'1'' and 6'2'' and between 220 and 250 pounds.  Investigators believe Smith may be hiding on the city's west side, possibly in the Haughville area.

Anyone with information on Smith's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
