Two teenage boys have been arrested and face charges in the death of 14-year-old Nicholas King.
IMPD detectives say 18-year-old Kevin Edwards brought a rifle to the 5800 block of LeFleur Court on the southeast side. His 15-year-old stepbrother was handling the weapon when King knocked on the door. The other boys went to the door. Witnesses told police the two were trying to "scare" the victim.
The 15-year-old pulled the trigger and a round from the rifle hit King in the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Edwards was taken to the arrestee processing center. He faces a felony charge of criminal recklessness. His stepbrother was sent to the juvenile holding facility and faces a felony charge of reckless homicide. The case has been turned over to the Marion County Prosecutor's office.
