Daylight Saving Time is here, and a sleep expert says, it would be a good idea to use that hour for sleep.
Doctor Martin Vollmer works with Community Health Network's Sleep Center, and he says since the invention of the light bulb, we have started shorting ourselves in the sleep department by about 2 hours a night, giving us an average of 7 hours of rest.
Vollmer says our bodies want to use that time to sleep as part of a natural pattern.
By contrast, Vollmer says research shows there is an increase in car crashes when we spring forward, as people who may already be sleep deprived, end up losing an hour of rest.
