Some Indianapolis Colts players visited military veterans Monday afternoon at the Roudebush VA Medical Center. Team members delivered care packages and signed footballs to veterans in honor of Veterans Day.
Linebacker Scott Lutrus spoke with several veterans, including Richard Carter, who said he appreciated Lutrus' appreciation for his service. Carter says it's "few and far between" when he gets thanked for his service to the country. He stated knowing his work is appreciated is more important than anything.
Carter says Lutrus was the first pro football player he'd ever met, despite working at Rich Stadium for the Buffalo Bills. Carter says he used to be a Bills fan, but has since converted to rooting on the Colts.
The team has created a website colts.com/salute to highlight the Salute to Service campaign.
