Indiana Gas Prices Down But On Rising Trend
Indiana gas prices are way down compared to last month, but they appear to be on the rise again.
GasBuddy.Com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says the average price for regular unleaded across Indiana now stands at about $3.41 a gallon. He says that's 38 cents a gallon less than a month ago and also 8 cents a gallon less than a year ago. DeHaan says a price war is taking place across the state.
He says stations are losing money as a result. DeHaan cites sudden increases in supply plus the return of the winter gasoline blends that are cheaper to produce and refineries coming out of maintenance. DeHaan also says the peak consumption time for gasoline has passed. However, DeHaan says a "bouncing effect" is now causing prices to rise again. He says prices are back up about 11 cents across the state this week compared to last week.
