Lung cancer is a problem across the country, smoking, heavy industry and other environmental factors can all play a part, but for Hoosiers, lung cancer has proven to be a lot deadlier than the national average, by 20%.

Mimi Ceppa, with I-U Health says a lot of people in Indiana put off getting any kind of medical exam, that could catch lung cancer earlier.
November is Lung Cancer Awareness month, and Ceppa says not smoking will help your chances of not contracting the deadly disease, but Ceppa says for those who do quit, they can manage some kind of normal lung function within about a year.
