Thousands of volunteers are packing the pantries for the hungry.
Listen:
Some 3,000 volunteers are expected to pack more than one million meals as part of the "Million Meal Marathon." The annual event collects supplies and food for area food banks and pantries. Partners include Gleaners Food Bank and the Midwest Food Bank. The Million Meal Marathon is sponsored by Kids Against Hunger.
The Marathon kicked off Tuesday morning at nine and runs through 7:30 pm. Angie Mollenkopf is with Kids Against Hunger of Central Indiana. She says over hundreds of thousands of meals will be packed to go to local food banks including Midwest, Second Harvest and Gleaners and then hundreds of thousands of meals will go to Haiti, Africa and Ukraine through partners in those countries.
