Two people are dead after a shooting at the ConAgra food plant on the city's northwest side Friday night.
IMPD Officer Michael Hewitt says officers were called to the plant near 62nd Street and Guion Road around 6:40 p.m. on a report of two people shot. Witnesses tell police the victim was in the break room when the suspect entered, made eye contact with the victim and left. The suspect then returned with a gun and shot the victim multiple times before turning the gun on himself.
The victim, identified as 45-year-old Anthony Hicks, was taken to St. Vincent Hospital where he died from his injuries. The shooter, 44-year-old Alonzo Laws, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officer Hewitt says a motive for the shooting is not known at this time but the investigation is ongoing.
