Black Friday Specials On Homeless Animals

11/21/2012

The crowds, the rush to find the perfect gift at deep discounts - all part of the Black Friday.  The Hamilton County Humane Society is planning to take advantage of the shopper mania by offering special Black Friday pricing for adoptable pets. Early bird visitors can take advantage of $15 adoption fees from 8 to 10am. Other discounted fees will also be in place until 5pm.

As the case too often this time of year, the shelter is over capacity with more than 500 dogs and cats in desperate need of a permanent home.

Executive Director Rebecca Stevens says the holidays always bring an influx of animals. She says too many pet owners surrender their pets because they are traveling, they have guest coming over for the holidays, and some say their pets are just no longer wanted.

"You walk through here and you look at the number of animals that have the reason for surrender as unwanted and it's really disheartening that someone actually said that"

Stevens says so many amazing animals are waiting for good homes. She encourages people to view the shelter's pet list online or just stop by on Friday to discover a new friend or two.
