It's a Thanksgiving Day tradition in Central Indiana.
Listen:
Organizers marked the 41st Annual Mozel Sanders Foundation Thanksgiving Day Dinner. Thousands of volunteers and needy residents converged at dozens of churches across Indianapolis where free meals and goodwill were served up. Denise Johnson acted as top coordinator of the effort at Mr. Olive Missionary Baptist Church on the city's Northside. She says this year marked her 11th year and the need was greater this year with the most walk ins.
Napoleon Williams worked at a meal server. He says it was a blessing just to be able to serve the less fortunate. Volunteers across the city served up turkey, green beans, dressing and cranberry sauce among other things. Cordius Sanders got the last meal served at Greater St. mark Missionary Baptist Church on the Far Northeastside. He says he was happy he made it to the church on time.
