The tree on Monument Circle is lit after Friday night's Circle of Lights celebration.
Some people of have been coming downtown to see the lighting of the tree for years and others started a new tradition. Eugene Baker and his family came to downtown Indy to see his daughter perform onstage during the celebration. "Well when we first heard, it was just one of those moments where you just were really proud of your daughter and we certainly are, my wife and I."
Baker said this year was the beginning of an annual tradition for his family. As always, people packed Monument Circle for the annual holiday tradition. The 50th anniversary of Circle of Lights even brought back one man, an electrician who worked on the first Circle of Lights in 1962, but never returned until this year.
