Nearly two years after being killed in the line of duty, a scholarship fund in IMPD Officer David Moore's name is growing.
The David Moore Scholarship has already met the $25,000 requirement, which means it is a permanently endowed scholarship. Jim Graham says the scholarship's funding level is a testament to the Moore family's fundraising capabilities, but he says if the scholarship can get up to the 50,000 or 60,000 dollar level it would mean a $1,000 scholarship each semester for a student in the ROTC program at Purdue.
Moore's mother Jo, who is also an IMPD officer, says David was involved in the Purdue ROTC program and wanted to be remembered by a scholarship for someone interested in law enforcement. Graham says the criteria is academic, aptitude for military service, leadership and an interest in law enforcement.
