A man from Gary is dead after an apparent shooting at a southeast side apartment complex Thursday night.

IMPD officers were called to the complex near Rural Street and Carson Avenue around 9 p.m..  A caller to 911 stated his roommate had been shot.  The victim, a 34-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses tell our newsgathering partners at RTV6 they heard 12 gunshots but police have not confirmed that report.  Police say two black males were seen running from the apartment shortly after the shooting.
