The mother who left her 16-month-old son alone and unattended in a room at a Motel 6 in Speedway Tuesday is being charged with neglect of a dependent.
Speedway Police say they've discovered that 32-year-old Talisha Evans was on probation for a similar offense in which she left a child unattended in an unlocked vehicle with the engine running in a store parking lot.
In Tuesday's incident, she told investigators she took an older child with her to pick up two others at their bus stop, leaving the youngest sleeping in the room. She ran out of gas on the way back to the motel.
