About 40 businesses are about to get a bill asking for back-payment, from Town of Speedway, to the tune of $800,000.

The error found by accounting firm Crowe Horwath impacts only larger commercial sewage clients from Speedway, many of which don't actually operate in the town.

Clerk-Treasurer Sharon Zishka says a broad range of businesses will be impacted, dollar amounts ranging from $1,000 dollars in back payment, to one business that owes $200,000.

The businesses will have two years to pay Speedway, before facing a 10% fine.

There is a discount for early payment. Zishka says businesses will learn about their payment, and their options on Wednesday
