As expected, Mayor Greg Ballard has vetoed the City County Council's proposal for a second round of redistricting.
The Republican Mayor insists that the maps he approved in January comply with state law, which requires that it be done this year. The Council Democrats the law means it should have been done after the new council took office with their party in the majority.
The mayor has also used his veto power against a proposal to divert RebuildIndy money from infrastructure to public safety. He says the use of one-time money for an ongoing expense is unsound fiscal policy.
