A Zionsville teenager is dead after being taken to a hospital by friends Wednesday morning.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department says deputies were called around 10 a.m. to St. Vincent Hospital on the city's northwest side on a death investigation.  Sheriff Mark Bowen says 18-year-old Dean Barrett of Zionsville was taken to the hospital a few hours earlier by friends and died shortly after arrival.

Barrett had spent the night with a friends at a home near 106th Street and College Avenue.  The friends woke up and found Barrett unresponsive and took him to the hospital.

Bowen says they have no reason to believe foul play was involved in Barrett's death.  "There is some speculation that there may have been some substances on board with the young man but until we have confirmation through toxicology, we really won't be able to answer that for certain."

The investigation is ongoing.
