IMPD is investigating a shooting at Lafayette Square Mall Friday night.
Listen:
IMPD responded to multiple calls of shots fired inside the mall just before 7:00. IMPD Officer Kendale Adams says officers arrived and attempted to locate any victims and a possible shooter. "Working with witnesses, they were able to determine a possible shooter. Officers spread out across the mall and took into a custody a juvenile male who we believe is a possible suspect on the north side of the mall. They also recovered a small caliber handgun."
Adams says no injuries were reported in the incident. He says officers also stopped a vehicle with large caliber guns inside. Those guns were confiscated but police did not say if that vehicle was related to the shooting.
In a statement, IMPD Chief Rick Hite said, "Shootings of this nature will not be tolerated. IMPD will have increased security and a stepped-up presence at our malls."
