Flu vaccine has been hard to come by for some folks in Delaware County.
Listen:
Several CVS and Walgreens pharmacies in Muncie report they've run out of vaccine this week and were awaiting more supply. They say many people have been getting flu shots in light of the unusually high incidents of illness across the nation.
Delaware County Health Department Administrator Joshua Williams says they no longer offer vaccinations. Williams says the health department stopped offering flu shots due to lack of demand.
Williams says they rely on pharmacies to offer the shots. He blames the shortage on higher demand. Williams urges people to call around the find out which pharmacies may have supply before venturing out. He says the influenza surveillance program is a good one, but says it can't catch everything.
