The Indianapolis City-County Council praised the efforts Monday of Southport Presbyterian Church to help the residents of the Richmond Hill explosion.

Councillor Jack Sandlin said the church, its members and community volunteers set an example for responding to tragedies such as the explosion which killed two people and injured many others.  Pastor Rob Hope also recognized two Richmond Hill residents who he said have served as leaders and liasons in the recovery effort.

Hope said while he's proud of the work the church and the community have done so far, their work isn't finished.  He said they will continue to help the residents on their road to recovery and renewal.
