The 2012 WNBA Champion Indiana Fever were recognized on the Indiana Senate floor today (Thursday).
State Senator Jean Breaux (D-Indianapolis) congratulated the team on their championship and for the work they do across the state. Head Coach Lin Dunn, and players Tamika Catchings and Tammy Sutton-Brown received a standing ovation from Senate members.
Dunn says it's nice to take a trip to the Statehouse as a champion. She made her first trip there in 1994 with her Purdue team. Dunn said being recognized for the teams' first ever WNBA Championship was special. General Manager Kelly Krauskopf says the team has enjoyed their championship run, but the offseason has been busy. Krauskopf says they've accomplished their top priorities by re-signing former MVP Tamika Catchings, Briann January and Shavonte Zellous.
The team begins their title defense on May 24th in San Antonio.
