An online survey conducted for the American Psychological Assocation, says Millennials, or those aged between 18 and 33, are more stressed out than any other age group.
Listen:
The study was taken by over two thousand adults who rated their stress levels from 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest. Those between the ages of 18 and 33 had an average stress level of 5.4 with 39 percent saying their stress increased in the past year. 52 percent said their stress was keeping them up at night.
Clinical Psychologist Dr. Greg Sipes says he wonders if it's the particular age group that's stressed or if it's just this generation of people within that group. He says he'd like to see a survey of the same people 15 or 20 years later to see which one it is. Dr. Sipes says that age range is a difficult time for people because they're having to deal with certain stressors on their own for the first time.
Dr. Sipes says those who are stressed need to find a coping mechanism such as exercise, meditation or just talking about it with a friend or family member.
