More than 800 laid off Hostess workers in Indiana can apply for federal aid. The U.S. Department of Labor says 18,000 employees in 48 states, including Indiana, are eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance.

The department investigated the layoffs and found that rising imports of baked goods contributed to the company's sales declines and job cuts, making the workers eligible for the assistance program. The affected workers are encouraged to visit their local WorkOne office to find out how to apply.
