Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano will never have to travel far to scout for new talent at the NFL Combine. This year, the coach is searching Lucas Oil Stadium for new talent to add to his team that shocked the NFL with its success in his rookie season.
Though he missed much of it because of leukemia treatment, Pagano continues to bask in the glow of a wild card season that was predicted by virtually no one outside the Colts organization. Pagano says he was impressed with how quickly the young team matured and meshed last season, the majority of which was coached by offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, now the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
Pagano wouldn't say what he and general manager Ryan Grigson were looking for at the Combine. But he says they have identified some areas in which they would like to improve, and says they will try to do that through Combine evaluations and the upcoming NFL Draft.
The Colts won't sneak up on anyone as they may have coming off a two-win season in 2011, but Pagano says the players have set a high bar for themselves and that they expect to be competitive.
